Allen Meadows' Burghound - 2021 Volnay Premier Cru Taillepieds, Marquis d'Angerville
This is as aromatically spicy as the Caillerets but it's every bit as elegant and a bit cooler as well with its more floral-inflected red berry fruit scents. There is better density to the even more mineral-driven flavors that are akin to rolling a small stone around the mouth while exhibiting the classic youthful austerity on the impressively long, focused and compact finale. As with all young examples of Taillepieds, this is definitely going to require at least some forbearance. - Allen Meadows, Apr. 23
