The 2020 Morstein Riesling GG is deep, pure and calcareous on the virtually chalky nose that reveals ripe and elegant yet still reduced fruit. Firm and saline on the palate, this is an elegant, fresh, stimulating and bitter Morstein with fine tannins and a long, intense and promising finish. Still discreet but fleshy, this will turn out to be a classic from a warm vintage, though the character of this 2020 is rather coolish. 12.5% stated alcohol. Natural cork. If you have enough patience, this will turn into one of the greatest dry rieslings of the vintage. A tight rose bud in the nose and on the front palate, but then the wine expands in an almost supernatural fashion as it flows over the palate. Staggering minerality at the totally focused finish.
