A lovely cuvée from this prime hillside lieu-dit is the 2019 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Evocelles. Wafting from the glass with notions of cassis, wild berries, forest floor, violets and dark chocolate, it's medium to full-bodied, velvety and concentrated, with lively acids, melting tannins and a long, saline finish. Allen Meadows' Burghound - 2019 Gevrey-Chambertin Evocelles, Louis Boillot
Somewhat surprisingly, the nose is more deeply pitched with its aromas of plum, dark currant, pungent earth and soft floral nuances. The finer but not necessarily denser flavors are more obviously mineral-driven before culminating in a balanced and impressively long finish.
