Offering up pretty aromas of raspberries, cherries and candied peel, the 2016 Maranges 1er Cru La Fussière is medium-bodied, satiny and nicely concentrated, with good depth at the core, ripe tannins and a penetrating finish. An overtly earthy yet still very pretty nose blends notes of plum, red currant and discreet spice nuances with those of floral and a wisp of wood. Once again there is a nicely refined mouth feel to the medium-bodied flavors that exude a subtle minerality on the slightly rustic finish that is firm enough to suggest that this should offer mid-term development potential. - Allen Meadows, Apr. 2018
