Pretty and expressive, the 2019 Mazoyères-Chambertin Grand Cru bursts with aromas of plums, red berries and loamy soil, complemented by a subtle hint of peonies. Medium to full-bodied, ample and open-knit, it's a charming, front-loaded wine that concludes with a saline finish. - William Kelley

Vinous - 2019 Mazoyeres-Chambertin Grand Cru, Arnaud Mortet

The 2019 Mazoyères-Chambertin Grand Cru takes its time to open (in fact, I afforded it an hour in my glass before commencing my note). Black fruit, leather, damp undergrowth/moss, touches of morels develop in the glass, distinctly different from the Charmes-Chambertin. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy black fruit mixed with orange rind and tangy marmelade. This feels very harmonious and cohesive, gently grip with a wonderful sapid finish. This is a superb Mazoyères that will give 20-30 years of drinking pleasure.
