Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: The 2016 Maximin Grünhaus Abtsberg Riesling Kabinett –No 19– (Versteigerung) displays a clear, flinty and beautifully reductive though delicate bouquet with bright Riesling and crunchy slate aromas. Lush and piquant with great finesse and mineral tension, this is a well-structured and very salty Abtsberg Kabinett with a persistent, aromatic finish. This is an impressive Kabinett with huge aging potential. Tasted March 2018. - Stephan Reinhardt, Apr. 2018

Mosel Fine Wines: This is still rather reductive but proves superbly backward in style with white peach, herbs and fine spices wrapping some ravishingly elegant minty herbs. The wine is smooth yet zesty on the palate and leaves a stunningly complex feel in the long finish. As in the 2015 vintage, the von Schubert Estate produced a great auction wine cut along the great lines of its magical Auslese bottlings from the 1990s with plenty of upside if the wine firms up at maturity. This is a must buy for any lover of Grünhaus. 2026-2041. - Aug. 2017

Vinous: For the second year in a row, von Schubert has offered a small lot of Abtsberg Kabinett at the Trier auction. (For more about what’s involved in choosing his choice of auction Kabinett, consult my review of this wine’s vintage 2015 predecessor.) And this time around, it strikes me that the wine justifies the approach, being finer but no less delicate than its non-auction counterpart. White peach, honeydew melon, passion fruit and white currant are tinged with thyme, wintergreen and mint on an expressive nose and a delicate but subtly creamy palate. Hints of peach kernel and walnut offer piquant counterpoint. The superbly sustained finish delivers a vibrant, shimmering interplay of crystalline stony, infectiously juicy fruit and cooling herbal elements. - David Schildknecht, März 2018
