I hadn't drunk the 2008 Pouilly-Fuissé Clos des Petits-Croux for several years, but it continues to offer striking aromas, bursting from the glass with notes of buttered citrus, crisp apricot, drawn butter, freshly baked bread and iodine. On the palate, it's full-bodied, satiny and chiseled, with terrific depth at the core, racy acids and a long, saline finish. Guffens himself doesn't care for the vintage's distinctive lactic signature, the result of elevated levels of malic acid at harvest, but in the case of the Petits-Croux, I tend to think that's something of a counsel of perfection. - William Kelley, Dez. 2023
