The 2006 Riesling Zeltlinger Sonnenuhr Auslese *** (White Capsule) opens with a super clear, intense and aromatic peach, peach confiture and fresh mint tea flavor that is perfectly intermixed with crystalline slate aromas. This is enormously rich and concentrated but highly intense and elegant on the palate, showing a dense and viscous texture with super ripe, sweet fruit that is perfectly balanced by the ripe acidity and very fine tannins. This is a gorgeous Riesling with great expression and still a huge aging potential. I would not call it super dry (rather dry-styled), but I also don't think it has a gram too much of unfermented sugar. It is just perfectly ripe and finished at 13.5% alcohol plus 13 or 14 grams of residual sugar. - Stephan Reinhardt, Apr. 2017
