The 2021er Berncasteler Doctor Riesling Spätlese has a still quite restrained and smoky nose of aniseed herbs, thyme, cassis, lime, fine spices, and a whiff of coconut. The wine is nicely playful on the palate, where some canned yellow peach, a hint of apricot, and tangerine make for a fruity and appealing side. The finish is more marked by zesty acidity, which gives quite some focus and energy to the wine.
