The 2021er Berncasteler Doctor Riesling Auslese starts off with a hint of reduction from sulfur and needs a few minutes in the glass to reveal smoky notes of almonds, minty herbs, greengage, white minerals, and earthy spices. The wine is very playful yet focused and precise on the rather linear yet intense palate. The finish is superbly long and playful.
