The 2021 Auf der Ley GG is clear, deep, pure, fresh and flinty on the nose but also intense and beautifully concentrated, with ripe and dense fruit aromas. Pure, saline and crystalline on the palate, this is a concentrated and pure Auf der Ley with a stimulating, bitter finish. It is currently somewhat restrained but promising. From the Coravin bottle, the Ley shows just-ripe mirabelle aromas paired with flinty notes and gives a clearly coolish impression. On the palate, the wine is less savory but substantial and has a deep mineral structure. This is a tight, dense, noble and bitter Riesling with a long, saline finish. This is definitely a fabulous, very dramatic wine that shows the purity and savoriness of the Frühlingsplätzchen as well as the density and structure of the Halenberg. Natural cork. 12.5% stated alcohol. Tasted at the domaine in August 2022. To be auctioned in September in Bad Kreuznach. - Stephan Reinhardt, Dez. 2022
