Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2019 Jaspis Gutedel Alte Reben 10⁴ is clear, fresh, pure and stony on the intense and chalky nose and absolutely fascinating in its complex mix that exhibits roasted almond, iodine and yeasty as well as flinty notes. Lush and intense on the palate, this is a dense and structured, charmingly round and fruity but most of all buoyant, finessed and refreshingly mineral Chasselas with a tight but fine and finely bitter tannin structure that intermingles with vibrantly saline acidity and gives an impressive finish. This is an excitingly complex and balanced Gutedel that might be (one of) the world's finest Chasselas. 12.5% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted from lot L 27 21 in June 2022 over a period of 11 days with so signs of any weakness. - Stephen Reinhardt, June 2022
