Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2018 Bockstein Riesling GG is the first dry Riesling produced from the Bockstein here. The nose is fine and delicate, fresh and bright yet still discreet in its fruit and terroir expression. Fresh, pure and crystalline on the palate, this is a mineral, vital and vibrantly fresh Riesling GG with a long and intense finish that reveals enormous ripeness and complexity. Tasted in June 2019. Release date: September 2019. - Stephan Reinhardt, Aug. 2019
Vinous
For the first time, there is a Zilliken Bockstein Grosses Gewächs from a parcel of conspicuously well-situated vines in that large Einzellage. “I could always have done more with Bockstein,” noted Hanno Zilliken, “if I had chosen to focus on that site rather than on [Saarburger] Rausch.” Lemon and orange blossoms dominate the nose, anticipating the flowery as well as delicate impression subsequently conveyed on a buoyant, polished palate. Bright juiciness of lemon and apple convey animation and refreshment on a finish strikingly transparent not just to the reprise of floral nuances but also to crystalline stony mineral impingements. - David Schildknecht, Juli 2020
Mosel Fine Wines
The 2018er Bockstein GG, as it is referred to on the consumer label, was made from clean fruit harvested at 95-96° Oechsle. It offers a complex and beautifully expressive nose of vineyard peach, orange peel, a hint of apricot blossom, spices and minty herbs. Juicy frui ts give a creamy side to the wine on the palate but this is nicely balanced out by a kick of acidity in the very long and slightly forceful finish. 2023-2033
