The 2018er Maximin Grünhäuser Herrenberg Riesling Trockenbeerenauslese Nr. 221 was auctioned off in November 2021. It reveals incredible depth, complexity, and concentration with very pure and focused aromatics of raisin, acacia honey, exotic fruits (passion fruit, mango, sweet pineapple, guava), tangerine, orange zest, and spices. The wine is intensely honeyed and sweet on the palate, which has enormous concentration, yet also finesse and purity. The botrytis is very pure and delivers oily, almost Essenzia-like richness. The finish has great power but also a velvety as well as an electric side in the vibrating and immensely long finish. This is a perfect young TBA, with many decades ahead of it. 2038-2118. - Feb. 2022
