Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
Tasted from a small 375-milliliter bottle, the 2018 Maximin Grünhaus Herrenberg Riesling Auslese Nr. 72 offers a pure, fresh and crunchy-mineral bouquet with lemon aromas and notes of crushed rocks and stone dust that give an almost "dry" sensation. The palate is elegant and well-balanced, revealing remarkable finesse yet not the dimensions of the Abtsberg. There is not much depth here but lots of charm and finesse—no need to age this one that long. It's a very elegant and refined style with discreet sweetness. 7.5% alcohol. Tasted from AP 35 19 in June 2019. - Stephan Reinhardt, Aug. 2019
Wine Spectator
Silky and unctuously fruity, with powerful acidity behind the lively flavors of apple jam, ripe peach, apricot blossom and melon. Minerally midpalate, leading to an intense finish of candied dry herbs, spice and Christmas cake. Impressively pure and focused. Best from 2022 through 2040. - Jan. 2020
