A classic Treppchen nose pungently evokes sassafras with zesty lemon and orange. A pithily concentrated palate is strong on citrus peel and apple seed piquancy and projects an impressive impression of smoke and crushed stone suffusion. The finish grips, but a bit gruffly and roughly. I am not convinced that time will temper this, but it was only due for bottling in early 2020 and will thus have experienced further (as always at this address, passive) lees exposure. - David Schildknecht, Nov. 2020
