Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
Notes of cherries, raspberries and cassis mingle with hints of forest floor and spices in an incipiently complex bouquet, introducing the 2018 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Lavrottes, a medium to full-bodied, rich and structured wine that Felettig observes is always one of the slowest-evolving wines in the cellar. Mineral and youthfully firm, this is promising for the future. - William Kelley, Feb. 2020
Vinous
The 2018 Chambolle-Musigny Lavrottes 1er Cru comes from the youngest vines of the domaine, at 20 years of age, and this vintage includes 30% whole-bunch fruit. It feels tightly wound at first and needs coaxing from the glass, offering menthol-tinged red fruit with time, and later crushed violets. The palate is medium-bodied with crunchy tannins, well-judged acidity and nicely integrated oak (to the point where I assumed it was 50%). There is plenty of cassis fruit on the finish. A precocious Burgundy that is not complex but packed full of flavor. - Neal Martin, Jan. 2020
Allen Meadows' Burghound
A cool and very pretty nose blends together notes of both red and dark currant with an abundance of floral nuances, and in particular violet. There is good volume and an attractive punchiness to the tautly muscular flavors that possess a seductive mid-palate texture, all wrapped in a youthfully austere and slightly chewy finish that flirts with rusticity. - Allen Meadows, Jan. 2020
