Details
"Jetzt wird es vielschichtig und opulent! Oregano, Schmalz, etwas süße Sojasauce und reifer Pfirsich dominieren die Nase. Am Gaumen etwas phenolisch und sehr druckvoll. Ein sehr gelungenes Beispiel dafür, dass ein Grosses Gewächs konsequent von seiner Herkunft erzählt. Hipping-Terroir in Höchstform!" - Kilian Feichtmair, WeinArt

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2017 Nierstein Hipping Riesling "GG" is clear, precise and flinty on the elegant and subtle nose. Refined and perfectly balanced on the palate, this is a very elegant and playful, rather filigreed Riesling with intense fruit and lingering salinity, finesse and fine tannin grip. Excellent. Tasted at the domaine in March 2020. - Stephan Reinhardt, Mai 2020
Vinous
Gillot points out that this fourth installment of her Hipping Grosses Gewächs reflects a collection of parcels that now includes southern, southeastern and even northern exposures. As with the corresponding village-level bottling (or indeed this vintage’s Nackenheimer), scents and zesty, tart-edge palate presence of lemon and apple together make for a brightly juicy and invigoratingly piquant as well as texturally polished performance. There is also a striking saline and seemingly protein-rich (certainly umami-rich!) savor – incorporating herbal and nutty nuances as well – which puts me in mind of oyster liquor or mussel stock and lends mouthwatering depth that carries into the seriously sustained finish. The sense of concentration here is almost implosive, but without the severity conveyed by the corresponding Pettenthal. - David Schildknecht, Jul. 2019
Mosel Fine Wines
This 2017er Niersteiner Hipping GG offers a quite rich and aromatic nose made of almond cream, yellow peach, pineapple and pear as well as quite some spices including clove, pepper and cinnamon. The wine offers quite some creamy presence and intensity on the palate, and acts like a pure white Burgundy wrapped into Riesling zest. The finish is very clean and long, and there is some tickly acidity as well as earthy spices coming through. This slightly bold but extremely appealing dry Riesling is superb. 2024-2032+. - Okt. 2018
