Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2015 Wehlener Sonnenuhr Auslese Long Gold Capsule (AP 26) offers a clear, fine and concentrated Riesling bouquet with fine raisin flavors and a hint of white champignons. Round, rich and sweet, this is a lush and charming Auslese whose sweetness is the most prominent one in all of the 2015 bottlings I have tasted thus far. At this early stage, it lacks the tension and vibrating freshness of the other 2015s that are all so highly digestible. This LGK, however, is made for a long bottle aging. Although, I am not sure it will ever become a palate dancer. It was bottled with 134 grams of residual sugar and 8% alcohol. - Stephan Reinhardt, Apr. 2017
Mosel Fine Wines
This hugely backward cask sample only hints at complex scents of pear, honey and herbs. The wine has the smooth oiliness of a BA on the palate as date and other dried fruits bring a nicely baroque and complex side to the more upfront fresh zesty flavors running through the wine. The finish is smooth, zesty and incredibly long, even if not very expressive at this stage. 2025-2055. - Aug. 2016
