Very pale in color, the 8% alcohol 2013 Graacher Himmelreich Riesling Auslese offers an extremely pure and flinty aroma of wet stones, white fruits, green apples and green leaves. Less sweet and with more finesse and delicacy then the Zeltinger Sonnenuhr Auslese, this is an elegant and light-footed, leaner style of Auslese and a great terroir reflection of the Himmelreich cru. Mosel Fine Wines
The 2013er Graacher Himmelreich Riesling Auslese proves still quite reductive and needs a few minutes in the glass to reveal fresh notes of spearmint, anise, smoke, almond, candied lime, and bergamot. The wine proves very pure and vibrating on the palate, with delicious creamy elements kicking in. Fine notes of pina colada and pineapple are wrapped into zesty and tight mineral elements. The finish is superbly focused and almost sharp at this early stage. There is elegance and lightness, yet it has great presence and intensity. This great Auslese still needs another decade to fully develop its complexity. 2033-2053. - Apr.2023
