91-94 / 100

Allen Meadows' Burghound: A beautifully fresh, pure and well-layered nose offers up a pretty mix of spice nuances that add significant interest to the cool red berry fruit aromas. There is a generous mouth feel to the punchy and detailed medium-bodied flavors that possess plenty of tannin-buffering dry extract, all wrapped in a firm, linear and powerful yet refined finish. This is terrific though note that moderate patience will be required. - Allen Meadows, Apr. 2013

91 / 100

Vinous: Good medium red. Very ripe, high-toned aromas of cherry, crushed stone and subtle stems. Big, rich and dry; more brooding and less filled in today than the Rugiens. More saline, medicinal soil tones and minerality than primary fruit showing today: little in the way of easy sweetness. Finishes with big, broad tannins and lingering smoky earth tones. - Stephen Tanzer, März 2014
