Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: The 2016 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Clos Saint-Jacques is brilliant, unfurling in the glass with a multifaceted bouquet in which aromas of raspberries, orange rind and cassis mingle with nuances of peony, spice and subtle grilled meat. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, ample and pure, with a deep, multidimensional mid-palate that's framed by satiny tannins and juicy acids, concluding with a long, fragrant finish. The exquisite textural elegance that Fourrier routinely achieves with this site does not conceal the wine's underlying power and concentration. - William Kelley, Jan. 2019

91-94 / 100

Allen Meadows' Burghound: Here too notes of wood toast and menthol are present on the more elegant array of red currant, spice and a lovely range of floral elements. The sleeker and more refined medium weight flavors possess an appealing sense of underlying tension while delivering outstanding length on the balanced finale. This needs to add depth to merit the top end of my predicted range but the natural class of a fine CSJ is evident. Note that this too will need at least a decade to arrive at its peak. - Allen Meadows, Jan. 2018

Vinous: The 2016 Gevrey-Chambertin Clos Saint-Jacques 1er Cru has a lucious slightly exotic nose that sports a metallic reduction. One hopes that it will dissipate with time. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red fruit, cranberry and red plum, touches of orange rind and marmalade developing towards the finish that is one of the spiciest among the five Clos Saint-Jacques this year. It just seems to take its foot off the accelerator pedal in the glass. Tasted blind at the 2016 Burgfest tasting. - Neil Martin, Okt. 2019
