Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: The 2017 Scharzhofberger Auslese (AP #8) –Gold Capsule– Versteigerung displays an intense, white/yellow-golden color and opens with a deep, rich and elegant, flinty-scented nose of white chocolate, honey, dried apricots, cumquats, crushed herbs and dried blossoms. It's almost peppery too. On the palate, this is a rich and concentrated, terribly sweet, piquant and seamlessly textured Auslese of great complexity and length. What mineral tension and tight character! There are cumquat flavors on the long aftertaste. This is a stellar Auslese and a radiant superstar of the 2017 Mosel vintage. Tasted in June 2019. - Stephan Reinhardt, Aug. 2019

Mosel Fine Wines: The 2017er Scharzhofberger Auslese GK was harvested at a full 150° Oechsle from an early selection of botrytized grapes. The wine develops a stunning even if still understandably primary nose of pina colada, date, white flowers, passion fruit and whipped cream, all lifted up by a whiff of nicely integrated volatile acidity. Where this wine comes into its own is on the palate. Here, creamy and zesty notes of passion fruit, honey, apricot, whipped cream and herbs come through and make for a simply remarkably balanced and intense experience. The botrytized side of the wine comes through in the finish, which lives from apricot, date and raisin, all lifted up by some great stunning notes of backed pineapple and fined herbs. This is sheer wine perfection. 2032-2067 - Auction Guide 2018

Vinous: Floral perfume, white raisin and jellied pit fruits soar from the glass rim. The feel is viscous and oily, an impression that – along with flavors of honey, white raisin, dried apricot and quince jelly – complements tangy pineapple core, crystallized ginger and concentrated lemon curd. The finish displays a combination of enveloping richness, sizzling invigoration, rapier penetration and mouth-shaking vibrancy such as one seldom witnesses outside the walls of this fabled estate. - David Schildknecht, Okt. 2019
