An exuberantly spicy and very Vosne nose speaks of ripe black pinot fruit, clove, anise and whiffs of hoisin and jasmine tea. The very supple and generous medium weight flavors are caressing and seductive even if not especially concentrated, all wrapped in a dusty and youthfully austere finish where a hint of mocha slowly emerges. The 2022 Vosne-Romanée Les Chaumes 1er Cru is matured in 60% new barrels. Dark berry fruit commingles with light forest floor and graphite aromas, though it unfurls slowly in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins. Very pure. A light Premier Cru, well-balanced and tensile with an elegant, transparent finish.
