The 2021er Berncasteler Doctor Riesling Spätlese has a still quite restrained and smoky nose of aniseed herbs, thyme, cassis, lime, fine spices, and a whiff of coconut. The wine is nicely playful on the palate, where some canned yellow peach, a hint of apricot, and tangerine make for a fruity and appealing side. The finish is more marked by zesty acidity, which gives quite some focus and energy to the wine. These two sides need to blend together before true greatness, so patience is needed for this Doctor Spätlese to fully shine. 2021-2046. - Dez. 2022
