More expressive than the Meursault Charmes but also more incisive, the 2018 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Chalumaux bursts with aromas of spring flowers, white currants, citrus oil, green apple and toasted nuts. A slightly fresher and equally cool nose combines notes of white peach, pear, citrus and lovely floral wisps, all of which is trimmed in just enough wood to notice. There is slightly more volume to the delicious and seductively textured flavors that exude a more subtle bead of minerality on the balanced, clean and saliva-inducing finish.
