The 2018er Graacher Domprobst Riesling Spätlese AP 10 was harvested at just above 90° Oechsle and was fermented down to fully fruity-styled levels of residual sugar. This offers telltale aromatics including pear, quince, greengage, laurel and caraway. The wine is packed with fruits, spices and herbs and yet remains incredibly filigreed right into the spicy finish. This is a superb effort and a great Spätlese with real Spätlese character. 2028-2048. - Jun. 2019

Vinous - 2018 Graacher Domprobst Riesling Spätlese 10, Willi Schaefer

Very ripe but fresh pear and apple are mingled with scents of lime, wet stone and salt spray. The palate is succulent, infectiously juicy, buoyant and bright, with zest of lime and skin as well as seeds of pear and apple serving for piquant, tart-edged counterpoint. The vibrant, generously fruity and refreshing finish is mouthwateringly salt-tinged. Seeing that a mere 7.5% alcohol is present, it comes as no surprise to note residual sugar in the mid-70s, yet the sweetness is supportive rather than extraneous. - David Schildknecht, Nov. 2020
