Robert Parker's Wine Advocate - 2018 Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru, Etienne Sauzet

There are two and a half barrels of the 2018 Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru, which comes from a parcel planted in 1936. Blossoming in the glass with aromas of citrus oil, crisp yellow orchard fruit, buttered toast and fresh apricots, it's full-bodied, deep and layered, with lively acids and appreciable structuring dry extract. This is very promising. - William Kelley, Feb. 2020

Allen Meadows' Burghound - 2018 Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru, Etienne Sauzet

A cool and equally pure nose shyly offers up notes of honeysuckle, white peach, passion fruit, anise and essence of pear and apple. The gorgeously textured middle weight flavors possess a lilting mouthfeel with an abundance of dry extract as the old vines show, all wrapped in a caressing but powerful, long and very firm finale. This is packed with upside development potential and should amply repay extended cellaring. - Allen Meadows, June 2020

Vinous - 2018 Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru, Etienne Sauzet

The 2018 Bienvenue-Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru comes from a small parcel abutting Les Pucelles, planted in 1936. It has a pleasant floral bouquet, although to be honest it is a bit overwhelmed by some of Sauzet’s high-performing Premier Crus. The palate is strict and focused with a fine bead of acidity. Fresh and malic in style, yet not quite flowering or kicking on toward the conservative finish. - Neal Martin, Jan. 2020
