Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: Matrot's 2017 Meursault 1er Cru Les Charmes was still a little shut down, having been bottled last week, but with coaxing it offers up a textbook nose of dried white flowers, fresh pears, buttered apples and mint. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, satiny textured and pure with brisk acids and a deep, tight-knit core. - William Kelley, Jan. 2019

91 / 100

Allen Meadows' Burghound: Discreet but not invisible wood frames spicy aromas of citrus, apple, hazelnut and acacia blossom. The succulent, delicious and medium weight flavors exude both a subtle minerality as well as an interesting note of quinine on the clean, dry and focused finale. This too could use a bit more depth but the potential is here for that to reasonably occur. - Allen Meadows, Jun. 2019

90-92 / 100

Vinous: (picked on August 29, the first day of the harvest here; no new oak was used for the Meursault premier crus): Pale bright yellow. Reticent nose dominated by yellow peach flesh, with subtle notes of herbs and flowers emerging with air. Ripe and supple but also with a firm spine of acidity to give precision to the middle palate. Not a fleshy wine but displays the most thrust and length to this point, with its persistent finish hinting at the volume of the vintage. The yield here was no higher than 50 hectoliters per hectare, according to Elsa Matrot. Very well done. Incidentally, Thierry Matrot expressed the opinion that "2017s picked before the rain can show real class," and this wine is a good example. - Stephen Tanzer, Sep. 2018
