The 2017 Pechstein G.C. is pure, fresh and pretty untamed on the pastry-scented and flinty, still reductive nose with red currant notes. Lush and juicy on the palate, this is a full-bodied, intense and compact, tightly structured, fresh and tensioned Pechstein with intense and concentrated fruit, lots of salt and mineral tension but also finesse. A great and presuming, very persistent Riesling that needs lots of time in the bottle. Tasted in Wachenheim in December 2019. - Stephan Reinhardt, Jan. 2020

Vinous - 2017 Forster Pechstein Riesling Q.b.A. trocken Edition G.C., Dr. Bürklin-Wolf

Sage, mint, white peach and lime dominate on the nose and polished palate of this concentrated, energetic essence of Pechstein. Piquancy of peach kernel segues into bittersweet nuttiness, and a sense of stone suffusion emerges as one works this around in the mouth. The bell-clear, vibrant finish introduces tingling stony impingements and a sweet-saline, raw-scallop-like savor that milks the salivary glands, while the abundance of peach and lime juiciness and the at once pungent and trigeminally cooling herbal essences seem never to let up. If this performance from tank is enhanced during the six or more months that remain until bottling, then watch out!
