Allen Meadows' Burghound: A distinctly earthy nose is composed of liqueur-like dark currant aromas that are laced with notes of humus, game and plenty of earth character. The rich, powerful and impressively concentrated full-bodied flavors possess excellent delineation on the sappy, mineral-infused, complex and long finish. This is an unusually good Gevrey villages and highly recommended. - Allen Meadows, Jan. 2017

89-92 / 100

Vinous: Bright dark red. Nose dominated by soil tones and musky reduction, with dark fruits and violet in the background today. Then broad, plush and sweet in the mouth; more pliant and less primary than the village wines from Vosne-Romanée and Chambolle-Musigny, but still in a juicy style. Most impressive today on the back end, where it spreads out horizontally to coat the palate and linger. This wine is a blend of two parcels, one on the Morey side of the village, not far from the grand crus of Gevrey (which Lécheneaut says brings elegance and early accessibility), and the other from more clay-based soil on the north side of the village, which is typically more masculine and powerful. - Stephen Tanzer, Jan. 2017
