The iconic 2015 Riesling G-Max offers a deep, clear, pure and intense bouquet of ripe seed, stone and a touch of tropical fruits that is perfectly intertwined with smoky crushed limestone, herbal and floral flavors. Dense, round, tight and vivacious on the palate, this is a very pure and mineral Riesling of great finesse and elegance. It is a dense and very complex, yet perfectly balanced, long and stimulatingly salty wine with an intense and persistent fruit core. A perfect blend of earlier and late harvested grapes that were slowly pressed with the basket press, like all of the crus and sweet wines at Keller.

The 2015er G-Max is still fully open for business and develops a most attractive and amazingly aromatic nose of herbs, orange blossom, mint and a touch of passion fruit. The wine starts off on the light and zesty side on the palate, yet gains immensely as it unfolds its density with quite some extract and even a touch of power. All these goodies are beautifully wrapped into some whipped cream and a refreshing sense of acidity. The finish is straight, pure and intense, and lasts for minutes. This is still pretty much work in progress on the palate, and do not hope this to be fully ready before 10 years after the vintage. There is anyway great upside potential in this fascinating dry Riesling. 2025-2050

Vinous - 2015 G-MAX Riesling Q.b.A. trocken, Klaus Peter Keller

Ripe, pit-inflected peach and mirabelle are accented on the nose by smoky suggestions of peat. More typical chalkiness ensues inner-mouth, with broadly palate-saturating pit fruit flavors allied to animating (analytically over 9 grams) acidity experienced as infectiously juicy lime and grapefruit. An incisive crunch of mustard seed adds to the nearly detonative intensity and grip of this palpably extract-rich Riesling’s finish.
