The 2014 Volnay 1er Cru les Brouillards has a mixture of red and black fruit, wilted violets developing in the glass, quite refined and yet gaining intensity all the time in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red berry fruit. There is a touch of rusticity here, a little ferrous towards the finish, although it has commendable substance and length. - Neil Martin, Dez. 2015

Allen Meadows' Burghound - 2014 Volnay Premier Cru Les Brouillards, Louis Boillot

A more complex if mildly rustic nose offers up notes of violet, cassis, red berry fruit liqueur and plenty of earth character. There is excellent intensity to the attractively textured mid-palate of the broad-shouldered, dense and powerful middle weight plus flavors that coat the palate with same on the austere and, like the nose, rustic finish. This muscular effort also has hint of backend dryness though it is less pronounced and this is a wine where the fining will go a long way to equilibrating the balance. - Allen Meadows, Jan. 2016

Vinous - 2014 Volnay Premier Cru Les Brouillards, Louis Boillot

Bright, dark red. Reticent black cherry and licorice aromas. In a denser but also tougher style than the Les Angles, showing very good concentration but little early sweetness. Communicates an impression of medicinal reserve, with the wine's mouth-clenching tannins giving the back end a distinctly rough quality. If this wine ever comes around, it won't be for a while. Production was cut by 60% due to hail in 2014. - Stephen Tanzer, März 2017
