Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: The 2014 Gottesfuss Alte Reben displays a deep and intense, pure and well concentrated bouquet of ripe Riesling. Full-bodied, very elegant and rich on the palate, this is a pure and powerful, very well structured and expressive Riesling that reveals a great length but is pure and finesse-full. The new oak fuder adds a certain creaminess and tannin structure. This is doubtlessly the greatest wine produced here in 2014, although I haven't yet tasted the Auslese and Beerenauslese yet that were still fermenting. - Stephan Reinhardt, März 2016

Vinous: Predictably the richest and most complex of the van Volxem offerings, this bottling from precious late-19th-century vines in an undeservedly neglected site also reveals the most diverse set of mineral characteristics: elusively smoky, stony, saline. The feel here is seductively creamy without compromising bright juiciness or refreshment. A suggestion of clam stock lends mouthwatering, lip-smacking savor. High-toned, cooling green herbal essences and bittersweet perfume of iris and gentian complement succulent white peach and juicy lime, with peach kernel adding stimulating counterpoint in a finish of billowing persistence. (I tasted from cask one lot of Gottesfuss destined for bottling in mid-2016, the first of its kind and best given an opportunity to express itself and to be reviewed alongside the young 2015s.) - David Schildknecht, Jul. 2016
