Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: The 2013 Volnay 1er Cru les Brouillards felt a little raw on the nose, especially following the fleshier les Angles. The palate is better with taut tannins and a core of strawberry and raspberry fruit, but it attenuates toward the finish. Hopefully it will gain some flesh by the end of its maturation. - Neil Martin, Dez. 2014

Allen Meadows' Burghound: A discreet touch of wood serves as a backdrop for the ripe red pinot fruit, plum and soft earth nuances. There is fine volume and richness to the very plush and round medium-bodied flavors that possess a hint of dryness that I suspect is being exacerbated somewhat by the presence of the abundant gas. As such there is a chance that this will age successfully though I doubt that it will ever be more than very good. - Allen Meadows, Jan. 2015

Vinous: (these vines are more than 50 years of age): Bright medium red. Distinctly dark aromas of cassis, black cherry and licorice. Intensely flavored and brisk, delivering noteworthy purity to its flavors of dark berries, violet, licorice and spices. The wine's firm acidity and dusty tannins will require patience. - Stephen Tanzer, Jan. 2015
