Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: The 2013 Nierstein Pinot Noir is blend of those barrels whose wines were not perfect enough to be classified as either Grand Cru Paterberg or Grand Cru Kranzberg. So the Nierstein is definitely a downgraded Grosses Gewächs that was fermented with 30% of the stems and aged at one-third in new barriques. Covered as village wine, it offers very nice fruit aromas of dark cherries and cassis intermixed with spicy flavors of cloves and hazelut. Fresh, straight and firmly structured, this silky textured wine reveals some grippy tannins and spicy flavors in the aftertaste. This is a pretty good, yet toasty Pinot Noir with 12.8% alcohol. - Stephan Reinhardt, Dez. 2015
