Allen Meadows' Burghound: A very pungent nose of strong reduction and new wood aromas renders the nose impossible to fairly evaluate. By contrast there is lovely freshness and verve to the big-bodied, intense and imposingly scaled flavors that possess a wonderfully seductive texture thanks to the abundant dry extract, all wrapped in a robust, muscular and impressively long finish. Despite the excellent punch the mouth feel is quite velvety and this too should be approachable after only 6 to 8 years yet repay 12 to 15 years of cellaring if you have the patience. - Allen Meadows, Jan. 2015
Vinous: Dark, bright red. Reticent nose hints at cherry and smoky oak. Elegantly styled and smooth if a bit youthfully unforthcoming today, showing more red fruits than black. Brisk acidity energizes the middle palate but this wine will need time in bottle to deliver on its inherent complexity. Finishes with dusty tannins, excellent length and an impression of saline minerality. - Stephen Tanzer, März 2016
