The 2012er Nonnenberg Monopol, as it is referred to on the front label, proves still restrained and even slightly muted at first as scents of smoke and herbs only gradually slowly give way to cardamom, white mint, greengage, vineyard peach, and anise, and with a hint of petrol with airing. The wine proves straight and refined on the palate with light-weighted presence and finesse, where a touch of sweetness makes for a not fully bone-dry experience. The finish is particularly long, spicy, and herbal. Fine tartness and earthy spices are wrapped into candied grapefruit. This needs a few more years to develop its complexity and could easily warrant a higher rating at maturity. 2027-2037+ - Mai 2022
