Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: A classic exemplar of its site in its dominance of white peach and its cooling herbal shadings – suggesting mint and wintergreen – the 2011 Maximin Grunhauser Riesling Abtsberg Superior also displays a greenhouse-like diversity of floral notes for which I found no counterpart in the wines that led up to it in the present collection. This displays a surprising degree of lift, almost delicacy, for a wine of nearly 13% alcohol, though it also suggests the important role of legal Halbtrockenheit in rendering a dry-tasting wine while moderating its eventual alcohol. Incisive notes of cress and stone add pizazz to a persistently juicy and unexpectedly uplifting finish. Expect this to prove deliciously versatile through at least 2020. - David Schildknecht, Okt. 2013
