Robert Parker's Wine Advocate - 2009 Chambertin Clos de Bèze Vieilles Vignes Grand Cru, Perrot-Minot

The 2009 Chambertin-Clos de Beze is a big, structured wine. It, too, has retained considerable freshness. Today it comes across as intense and totally shut down. My sense is that the 2009 will require time for the pedigree of this site to come through, but I am confident that will happen over time. Readers need to be especially patient here. Anticipated maturity: 2021-2039. - Antonio Galloni, Apr. 2012

Wine Spectator - 2009 Chambertin Clos de Bèze Vieilles Vignes Grand Cru, Perrot-Minot

A tightly knit pastiche of black cherry, kirsch, raspberry and sandalwood flavors, all corralled by the dense tannins. The fruit is ripe and centered, yet it's the structure that shapes this red, lending freshness and the promise of more. Best from 2015 through 2032. 175 cases made, 16 cases imported. - Bruce Sanderson, Feb. 2013

Allen Meadows' Burghound - 2009 Chambertin Clos de Bèze Vieilles Vignes Grand Cru, Perrot-Minot

Here there is also some reduction though wisps of spice and game are still discernable through the funk. Like the Chambertin, the big-bodied flavors are dense, serious and stony with a mouth coating and seductively textured mid-palate impression and a very firm but not aggressive tannic spine that gives shape and substance to the hugely long and mocha-infused finish. This will vie with the Chambertin for best in show in 2009. - Allen Meadows, Jan. 2011

Vinous - 2009 Chambertin Clos de Bèze Vieilles Vignes Grand Cru, Perrot-Minot

Good deep red. Reticent nose offers scents of brambly wild blackberry, licorice, smoke, espresso and dark chocolate. Silky on entry, then tight, extremely primary and bound-up in the middle. Penetrating and powerful at present, and not fun to drink, but the wine's inner-palate tension and purity of flavor are impressive. Finishes with strong tannins and outstanding persistence. For all its power, there's also an element of finesse here. - Stephen Tanzer, Mar. 2012
